Sonovoid®Concrete Void Forms
The world’s most innovative
and
cost-effective void form
Why Sonovoid concrete void forms?
Void forms are used in the construction of cast-in-place concrete where expansive soils are present. Void forms provide temporary support for cast-in-place floors, beams and walls until the concrete can support itself on the drilled piles or caissons. Over time, the corrugated paper that is used in the construction of the void form is engineered to absorb moisture from the surrounding environment. This moisture causes the void form to lose its structural integrity, thus allowing the soil to expand without causing damage to the foundation.
Where expansive soils are present, cast-in-place foundations on void forms are a must. The initial cost of a foundation using Sonovoid concrete void forms is minor compared to the cost of repair and business downtime associated with repair.
No glues or mechanical fasteners
Sonovoid concrete void forms’ unique, innovative and patented design is constructed without glues or mechanical fasteners.
Sonoco’s unique design provides several important advantages:
- The products can be shipped knocked down and can be assembled in a fraction of the time compared to any other competing products, saving you money.
- Assembly of Sonovoid concrete void form products is clean and hassle-free, without the added costs of glues or special assembly equipment.
High performance at the job site
Due to the unique patented design, Sonovoid concrete void forms offer several advantages over the competition at the job site:
- Our interior cell structure is physically incorporated into the protective, outer wrap of the void form, creating one strong integral unit. Other products available in the marketplace rely on glue for integrity and therefore can separate when being cut on the job. However, Sonoco’s design allows for precise on-the-job cutting without the loss of the structural integrity of the box.
- All Sonovoid concrete void forms have special endcaps. These provide extra strength at the very edge of the void form. Additionally, the end cap will keep the concrete from penetrating the void at the caisson or pile.
- All products are coated in a moisture-resistant coating that provides temporary protection prior to installation.
